Meet your Physical Therapist

Mitch Hanks, PT, DPT, SCS, CSCS

Mitch received his Exercise and Sports Science undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from East Carolina University, where he developed a strong foundation in clinical assessment, therapeutic techniques, and patient care. After completing his doctoral degree, Mitch was accepted into a sports residency of rigorous didactic studies and clinical experiences inside and outside of the clinic, culminating in successful completion of another national board exam and 200+ hours of mentoring with sports venue coverage. He now blends his experiences and current research to provide highly skilled physical therapy, which he tailors to meet each patient's specific needs. With extensive knowledge in common injuries and treatments, he uses his certifications in dry needling, strength training, and endurance sports to give clients more than the “run of the mill physical therapy.” He provides an unprecedented level of care, from small aches of pain to post operative recovery, he is truly excellent and one of the best providers in the area.

In addition to his clinical work, Mitch is passionate about endurance sports, educating patients on injury prevention, wellness, and long-term health strategies. He takes a holistic approach to care, focusing not only on immediate recovery but also on empowering patients to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle well beyond their treatment. Mitch’s approach to physical therapy emphasizes collaboration, trust, and personalized care, making him a trusted resource for individuals seeking rehabilitation, injury recovery, or performance enhancement.

Mitch takes his practice to heart, being an avid fitness enthusiast for the past 20 years. In his younger years, he was an All Conference high school swimmer, earning multiple bids to the North Carolina State Championship Swim Meet. He also played baseball for over 10 years, learning the battle of many injuries along the way. All during these times, he developed his love for weight lifting with his father, who competed in local bench press competitions. He has recently directed his efforts on training for long distance triathlons. In the process, earning many local 1st place finishes at our Lake Murray triathlons, and performing well above the average age grouper in Half Ironman distances. He has a long history of weight lifting, functional fitness, and endurance sports, but more importantly shares your passion to stay pain free, fit, and optimize your performance.
